Module 11 Discussion: What Fascinates You Most?

I was really fascinated by all of Eric Jensen’s “Approaches for Classroom Environment,” particularly the power of music. With music being especially important during spatial tasks, I plan to implement dramatic music while we read plays and incorporate dim lighting and other sound effects. While some studies say that Mozart boosts intelligence, I personally prefer playing music during individual work time that students enjoy, such as pop music with positive lyrics.

I was also interested in the Feedback Strategies outlined in this module, and I plan to incorporate more peer feedback groups. We do a lot of writing in my class, and I always encourage students to pair up and have their classmates read and review their first drafts before submitting them to me. I plan to incorporate feedback statements stems, such as “I liked…” or “I noticed” because it helps students stay on track and give constructive criticism.
