Mod 8 Video Discussion

I really liked how the teacher in the full lesson video really emphasized that she is purposeful in her student pairings for partner reads.  I already apply that to my own teaching.  It's important to know what groupings will benefit students the most based on ability, motivation, and a willingness to work as a team.  I noticed with one of the pairs that was the main focus, it seemed as though she was using the reciprocal teaching strategy for the student who was a native English speaker, which reinforced her understanding of the lesson, and then for the ELL student, it helped being able to be paired with a peer for the work so as to not overwhelm her confidence during the lesson.  I also liked how the teacher was very conscious of her pacing and think times, and very explicit in her expectations throughout the lesson, that way all students were on the same page with what was expected of them.  She also circled and checked in with students during independent work in order to formatively assess them as they worked.
