Mod 7 Discussion: Cross Cultural Awareness

Teachers, educational leaders and school support staff can promote cultural diversity and multiculturalism in the classroom by get to know the students/families and having open lines and maintaining consistent communication.  It is also critical to be respectful to every student and to acknowledge what makes them all unique.  Teachers need to practice cultural sensitivity, incorporate diversity in their unit/lesson planning and as well give students flexibility when it comes to learning new concepts, working with other students and being assessed, and goal attainment.
