Facilitating independence in thinking and action - cross cultural classroom expectations (Teacher Vision).

In order to facilitate independence in thinking and action the classroom must first be a learning environment that supports and encourages students from diverse cultural backgrounds to develop their critical thinking skills and take ownership of their learning. The classroom culture must value and respect each student's cultural differences while promoting academic achievement. This starts with the curriculum being culturally relevant that includes diverse perspectives, experiences, and contributions from various cultures that reflect the backgrounds of the students, allowing them to see themselves in the learning process.

Other important strategies include encouraging questions and open discussion, group and partner work, critical thinking skills, choices and autonomy, setting high expectations, cultivating a growth mindset, and fostering cultural sensitivity.

I think you are correct in you analysis. A classroom should display a learning environment that is conducive to all student's learning achievements. it should be respective of each student's cultural background and should facilitate higher order thinking skills which promotes independent thinkers.
