First I would welcome everyone and introduce myself and any other staff. The topic of the workshop would be displayed on screens or projected in multiple languages - Building Understanding of Classroom and Homework Expectations. There would be an icebreaker to get everyone to begin making connections with one another. The presentation would include the importance of valuing and embracing cultural diversity in the school community, as well as how cultural beliefs and practices can be honored wile aligning with classroom expectations. The classroom expectations and rules would be explained, followed by an emphasis on the importance of consistency and structure. A handout would be given outlining the school's homework policies and guidelines. It would also present the purpose and benefits in homework supporting student learning. The handout would have tips and strategies for parents to support their student.

There would be an open forum portion to facilitate discussion of concerns and questions. There would also be discussion of a parent/school partnership in the form of support groups and networking opportunities.
