Scenario 2

Scenario 2

New students from other countries coming to our school are made to feel welcome through initial conversations and meetings with parents and family. If I had a classroom, I would seat students close together that come from the same or close/similar countries. I would house books in my classroom that would reflect their primary language.  I would learn several words that I could use to greet the student in his/her language.  I would place cards in their primary language to identify items within the classroom, such as "table", "door", etc.

I love the idea to have culturally similar students together. It can give them great opportunities to find a sense of community in a new place.
