What surprised me the most is that 45% of Hispanic students read on grade level, while the number of white grade level readers is close to 75%. Considering many of the 45% are likely ELLs, I think this is a testament to early intervention and a focus on English Language Learning early on. All groups are equally capable, so I believe this shows where the focus needs to be so students don't get left behind.
