Scenario Response 10

There are far more than 10 High Quality Language Practices.  As a first grade teacher, I believe these are important:

• Role playing 
• Using gestures
• Showing real objects
• Pointing to pictures
• Drawings on the board, including pictures, objects, etc.
• Providing background knowledge
• Pre teach some important vocabulary words
• Demonstrate thinking aloud while reading
• Allowing students to stop and summarize as we are reading
• Dramatization of the story by students
