As an example of the TPR approach, I use a form of Charades with my students.  When we have a list of vocabulary words, I give each student a card with the word and the picture.  They leave the card face down, get up in front of the group and try to act out the word without saying anything.  I can be great fun as well as a great learning experience.  If I have an ELL student who is resistant to getting up in front of the group (and it happens). I have them work with another student.
