Module 14: Scenario Response
In researching high quality language development practices, I always to back to the work of Stephen Krashen (1982) and his concept of comprehensible input. When students are provided with language instruction that focuses on comprehensible input, they are going to make the most progress. Therefore these are the strategies I have found that allow students to engage in the use of language at a level that is comprehensible:
1. Think-pair-share
2. Cooperative learning
3. Jigsaw
4. Brainstorming
5. Use of graphic organizers
6. Leveled texts and tiered questions
7. Choral responses
8. Language Experience Approach
9. Sentence frames/sentence starters
10. Pre-teaching of key words/vocabulary
