I like to create a student monitored environment, so students have a role in their assignments to be successful which promotes engagement. Each student in a group has a role that they contribute with a specific color so I can monitor them as well as they can keep track themselves. If they are working in buddies each student gets a number and when turn and talk comes they switch up whose turn it is, so each student is responsible for doing their part. For whole group I use popsicle sticks to keep engagement up
