What I found most fascinating about cognition and language learning is how research shows that younger children use few parts of the brain when learning a language than do people who are older. I've known that it is easier for children to acquire a second language and this definitely supports this.

I already use visuals and music strategically in my classroom. My high school students often complain early in the school year about my playing classical music while we are doing independent work; however, they eventually get used to it and even grow to like it. I like my room to smell good but I haven't used aroma therapy strategically, such as choosing certain scents to spark thinking, but this is something I plan to incorporate next school year by bringing in a diffuser and essential oils.
