Module 15 Discussion: Engaging Families

Ways I can engage families are providing routine newsletters in English and home language, offering regularly classroom volunteer opportunities, online and classroom accessible student portfolios, notices of community ELL classes, personal conversations every quarter, and regular homework assignments allowing creativity and ownership, etc.
Homework provides routine parental involvement in the student's learning. Allowing parents better insight into the student's pace of progression, learning strengths, and weaknesses.
