1- think teamwork, considering everyone who will be involved in teaching the children of this family, work together to learn a basis of cultural expectations. Make sure everyone is on the same page.

2- ask if we can visit the family at home and invite the family to visit the classrooms and schools

3- make clear expectations for within the classroom, explaining we may do things differently than at home but that's okay.

4- administrators can help by making community connections, so the school has a familiar resource they can call on to help with building a relationship with the new family

5- administrators can make sure key support is in place (having ambassadors to take students around the school several times as needed) (ESOL specialist available to help with the transition to the new school)
