I would make anchor charts out of the table on the first page of this module (assertions, paraphrasing clarification, partner/group reporting, reporting a partner's idea). I would do an entire lesson on how to collaborate with a team and how to present arguments in a respectful manner. I would also model a discussion with the class, using phrases from the anchor charts. This will show students how to debate in a respectful way. 

I would pre-teach any vocabulary about the content being discussed to my ELL students. Then we would have a class debate.

I would group the students so that each group would be diverse in several ways (ELL, race, gender).
