It is very important to incorporate movement into learning. Using the whole area in the room for frequent movement keeps students' attention and understanding of the lesson. When teaching Phonics, I have students jump out the syllables of words, run their fingers across a lined mat while saying the letter sounds, and using scavenger hunts around the room to find words to put together that will form a complete sentence.

Lori,
I love that you have the students jump instead of clapping out the syllables of the words, this is great!
