To begin, I love that there is an emphasis on creating a more solid foundation in one's first language in order to have a solid foundation in a second language. It makes a lot of sense. How can we expect a student to speak with a strong grammatical syntax if their brains aren't programmed to prioritize that to begin with? So, I totally agree with this sentiment.

Next, I agree that proper ESOL training is important to facilitate educators in guiding ELL students to success. I have a bit of prior training, but as a secondary ELA teacher, I look forward to gaining more so that I can better help my students.
