Self-Assessment
Self-assessment
This module has significantly increased my understanding of how to effectively teach English Language Learners in my classroom. Prior to this experience, I did not fully recognize the needs ELL students have or the instructional considerations required to support them. I gained valuable insight into theories and stages of language acquisition, as well as interventions for ELL students who struggle with reading and writing. I also learned about the importance of using rubrics, scaffolding, tiered instruction, differentiation, and structured discussion practices. Each of these topics has been eye‑opening about teaching ELLs and has equipped me with stronger strategies and best practices to better support my students’ learning.
