Group learning and discussion groups are important for the reason that they offer a chance for students to develop their communication skills, collaboration skills, and critical thinking. I have noticed many students getting more involved in lessons when they are allowed to discuss and think about their answers first in their groups, then share them with the rest of the class. In the case of English Language Learners, discussion activities are good tools for building vocabulary and conversation skills since the activities involve interaction. Strategic grouping, together with using sentence starters, discussion questions, and roles can be used to encourage participation among the students. In the future, I would like to use more activities that incorporate collaboration including think pair share, discussions in partners, and group problem-solving tasks.
