One of the reasons why co-teaching in the ESOL classroom is beneficial is because it enables the content teacher and ESOL specialist to collaborate in teaching language acquisition and academics simultaneously. From my point of view, such a strategy fosters inclusion as students will be able to participate in age-appropriate subjects and receive language assistance simultaneously.

Regarding my future practice, I would implement co-teaching techniques based on group activities, modeled dialogues, and collaborative lesson planning. In this case, one of the instructors will be responsible for the presentation of material, whereas another teacher will provide scaffolding including vocabulary explanations, sentence stems, clarifications, and additional exercises for ELL learners.

In the future, I believe that co-teaching may promote professional cooperation among educators as well as facilitate the sharing of pedagogical skills and analysis of student needs. In addition, the strategy positively affects all students, not only ELL learners.
