I would focus on building the student’s vocabulary to a point where he can integrate better socially. Strong vocabulary provides the foundation for meaningful communication, which then naturally supports socialization. If the student has the words and phrases needed to participate in conversations, he will feel more confident engaging with peers. While social skills are important, they are most effective when paired with the language needed to express thoughts, ask questions, and respond appropriately. By focusing on vocabulary first, the student can gradually become more independent in group settings, which in turn will reinforce both social interaction and language acquisition.
