Mod 16 Discussion: Modifications for the Second Language Learner

It is important to have lessons that are scaffolded to include vocabulary words to build language fluency as well as building confidence in comprehension by having lessons that use multicultural texts. Building on background knowledge of student's experiences. Having activities that allow the students to be a master in one section of the lesson and allowing them to present it to their peers. Then having each piece of the lesson build the bigger picture for the students. Using visuals is a way to allow the second language learners to match the words being used with a picture to relate it to everyday use.
