Mod 14 Curriculum Selection Activity 1

Purpose and Inclusivity- I would ensure that I use supplemental materials such as software and web-based materials that line up with the standards and learning objectives. I would encourage individuality to represent diverse cultures and making sure I meet the learning needs of each student. I would then use activities that support differentiated instruction to ensure each student gets scaffolded lessons to ensure successful learning. 

Selection Criteria-

Academic Relevance would include lessons that align with state standards and school learning objective goals.

Cultural Representation- This would ensure that I include multiple perspectives from all cultures in my classroom and to allow learning from cultural bias and misconceptions from different cultures.

Accessibility and Differentiation- Having lessons given in multiple options such as visuals, audio, digital and printouts. Ensuring that each lesson has varied learning levels and abilities to meet all students need such as ELL students, Exceptional students and the higher learners. 

Engagement and Usability- Ensuring each lesson is made towards student's background knowledge and allowing the lessons to be interactive for each student to be engaged in their learning.  

Quality and Creditability- Need to ensure each lesson is meeting the learning objectives and standards and reviewing each activity in web based or software to ensure they are appropriate and credible to the standards.

Review and Approval process-

Initial Review- Teacher takes it upon themselves to ensure all lessons being introduced is credible and meets the learning standards and objectives

Committee Evaluation- Allows other teachers to review lessons as well as curriculum coaches to review the lessons.

Pilot usage- Having a trial run in classroom before using it full time.

Final Approval- The administration signs off on the lessons.

Ongoing Evaluations- Teacher uses formative checks to ensure the students are learning the skill that the lesson is focusing on.
