Mod 19 Discussion: Taking the Lead on Literacy

I would recommend the social studies approach to my colleagues to use in all content areas. The inquiry-based projects are a great idea to help students when it comes to learning. I enjoy the idea of providing a handout with key words, events, dates, which could easily translate to other content areas with a handout of important things before the lesson that students can reference back to. Going over content and access words is also beneficial and can easily translate to other content areas as well as a lot of subjects. This is similar to the math approach with root words. Finally, the K-W-H-L approach is an easy way to get students involved in an upcoming topic or subject and give them a way to check their progress.
