Mod 5 Discussion: Formal and Informal Assessments

One Formative assessment I used was fluency and comprehension questions that were administered one to one.  These assessments helped me place students in small groups to enhance their reading skills and teach them strategies to help them where they were specifically.  

One formative approach I would like to use is jigsaw. I like the idea that each member of a team is responsible for learning about one thing and coming back to teach their group about it.  It gives students a different level of responsibility and accountability that will elevate their learning.  The tricky thing is that this has to be able to have multiple things that a member from each of the group could learn about and bring back to the group.
