Lyon Final Reflection

Honestly, this has been the best professional development I have taken to date. A lot of times, P.D's feel bloated and redundant. This course actually gave me a lot of things to think over and expand my tool belts. The classic "all theory and no praxis," where people might say "you should do a thing" without actually talking about the means to do it. "Help establish expectations!" "What expectations should I set?" "Some, for sure!" Anyway, I digress. The point is that I actually felt like I learned a lot. Anytime I was familiar with something, like linguistics or making assessments, it built on those topics in ways that actually expanded my understanding. So much of the material covered, such as the the natural orders different linguistics between early and intermediate stages of language acquisition, are things I'll be coming back to frequently. I started reading "The First Days of School" by Harry Wong in the last couple weeks, and between that and this course I feel primed for the new school year. Bring it on!
