The group I would choose to mix things up at the end of the year would be small flexible grouping. Since the students have been working in the same groups for most all of the school year, it would be effective for them to interact with others. This does not mean that their groups will be broken up, as they have been together since the beginning of the school year. The idea behind this choice is to support the social learning pedagological theory. It would have probably been better to add more flexible group assignments so as to get all students a chance to interact with each other.
