I found two intervention methods mentioned in the module that I would try to combine to imoprove the ELL student's comprehension.
The combination would be paring with a mentor and using the Cluncks and Clues worksheet. Giving the ELL student the opportunity to interact with another student who can use the necessary metacognition process, as well as being able to work together and use the Clunks and Clues worksheet, would help the ELL student begin to comprehend instead of just decode.
To follow up with this, I would take time to review the worksheet with both students during some kind of small group reading time. I would address each item of the worksheet and ask both students more questions to lead them to better understanding, such as:Why do you think that? What do you think will happen next? How you act if this happened to you?
