1. Permitting a longer period of engagement with their first language allows for the students to properly build a foundation of knowledge in each content area before adding learning a new language on them and has been researched to be more successful in the long run. Having teachers properly prepared to deal with them is vital to their ongoing education. Also, embedding English into other content areas can help bridge any gaps in the language that the student might be having. And interacting with English speaking students is always a helpful tool for any student that is non native.
