The teacher in this video did a very good job at working with these students. When teaching, she not only taught the correct sounds, but she also taught the students the rule and the pattern that it follows. This allows for generalization when sounds out words with the same pattern. This would be helpful not only for phonemic awareness, but in all subjects. In math and teaching the rules and patterns of fact families. Or the rules of grammar when writing. Teaching the rules allows for the learner to take more charge and practice the skill more and more.
