Mod 5 Video Discussion

The criterion-based assessment that I intend to utilize more throughout the year would be the use of rubrics. We work on a number of different, required essays each semester (argumentative, persuasive, narrative expository). Often, students become confused by the requirements and specific criteria I am looking for. Rubrics would provide them with the clear expectations and opportunities for  reflection and self-assessment  they need as well as promoting metacognition and accountability on their parts. As for myself, the use of rubrics would allow me to objectively assess their performance as well as giving me the opportunity to provide targeted feedback which would work to help them raise their scores.
