Mod 19 Discussion: Taking the Lead on Literacy

I  think the most beneficial approach for any content area would be the importance of vocabulary. Vocabulary is the foundation of comprehension, communication, and critical thinking. Comprehension is based upon the understanding of the words you read. New vocabulary often represents new concepts. Learning these words allows students to grasp complex ideas and make connections between different pieces of information.  When students know the relevant vocabulary, they can engage more meaningfully in class discussions, and ask more precise questions.
