For those math standards that often pose a challenge, like division and fractions, I'd implement a criterion-based "check-in" assessment. This quick, 5-question tool would be designed to monitor student progress and gather essential data before a formal mastery check or unit assessment.

The primary goal is to determine if students have mastered the specified learning objectives for a particular concept, such as division. Students would demonstrate mastery by correctly completing at least 4 out of 5 problems on this short, targeted assessment, which would be administered immediately after the core instruction on that topic.

This data is crucial for guiding my next steps: it would clearly indicate whether students are ready to move forward, or if additional whole or small group remediation is required.
