Mod 14 Curriculum Selection Activity 1

Create an outline detailing a set of school guidelines for selecting non-textbook materials such as trade books, software, and web-based materials.  Describe and critique the non-textbook selection process based on how well the current process recognizes diverse cultures and meets the needs of all learners in your school.  Propose any necessary changes to the non-textbook selection process.  

1. Describe and detail a recognized selection process based on a multi-cultural population of students.

A)      The material need to be aligned with the Academic Standards.

B)      Is this material aimed the level of the target group?

C)     Is this material takes in consideration the differentiated learning?

D)     Is this material addresses or not cultural bias?

2. Consider the source's ability to differentiate effectively to meet the needs of all learners along a second language progress continuum.

It is necessary to be careful when selecting a material because our population is diverse: different backgrounds, language proficiency, etc.
