Scenario Response No. 7
Observing my first-year teaching experience shows students settling into comfort zones within their existing groups throughout the year which concerns me because they may not face sufficient academic challenges. It's May already so I plan to introduce some changes to help my students develop academically and socially. I plan to implement flexible grouping so I can combine students based on their unique strengths or specific needs and adjust according to the task requirements. This approach will enable students to acquire new social skills and encourage them to venture beyond their familiar comfort zones. My focus will be on differentiation because I trust that students achieve optimal learning when they interact with various peers and face diverse challenges. This opportunity allows me to foster adaptability and resilience in my students so they become confident learners and helps them establish relationships with their new classmates. Although I feel some nervousness about the approach, I believe it will invigorate their learning experience and enable them to achieve better results before the school year finishes.
