Mod 8 Discussion: Tiering and Scaffolding in My Classroom
The Tiered Assignments method enables me to set consistent learning goals while adjusting task complexity according to student readiness levels. In a science unit about ecosystems I could design assignments where students must recognize and detail various types of ecosystems. Students at advanced levels would study ecosystem interactions and present their research while students requiring additional support would benefit from worksheets designed to simplify key concepts into small steps. To support active student engagement I would use engaging materials such as videos and graphic organizers along with hands-on activities like building mini-ecosystems in jars alongside these assignments. The tiered instructional approach integrates seamlessly into my science lessons to support all students by making learning accessible and fun while enhancing their grasp of the subject and their self-assurance.
