In this scenerio, my data is telling me that over half of my class is below grade level. Due to this, this tells me that I need to model reading every single day in order for them to first see an example of what that looks like. I would build narrative input charts for my stories and make sure to choose a book the students are interested in so the students additionally have visual aids to follow. We would read the same book daily for the week to allow for proper scaffolding, as repetition is key. Since I have 5 bilingual students I would additionally create student led centers where there is a strong English reader in each group. They can choose a book as a group and have that student read. I would place my ESE students in the student led reading center every other day, while pulling them to my teacher table on off days to give them the extra attention needed based on their individual needs.
