Mod 11 Discussion: Teaching Critical Literacy

I really like the 4th juxtaposing activity. The activity consisted of taking a newspaper headline and removing all the words that could be bias and allowing students to fill in the blank and discuss why they chose the words that they did. This would be perfect for a lesson on bias. During this unit, I like to talk about how certain news stations and publications lean one way or another politically. I might take this strategy a step further and let the students know which paper or news channel it came from and have them incorporate that prior knowledge into consideration when choosing their words.
