Mod 8 Video Discussion
After watching the videos in this module, I was really inspired by how intentional and integrated the teaching strategies were—especially when it comes to language development. The emphasis on making content accessible through visual supports, repeated exposure, and meaningful interaction is something I see a real need for in my own classroom. I work with students who are all at different levels of understanding, so scaffolding learning through visuals, group dialogue, and repeated modeling really stood out as something I want to do more of. Moving forward, I can definitely see myself using some of the approaches modeled—like pairing visuals with new vocabulary or giving students sentence stems to support their speaking and writing. I also appreciated the idea of making sure students hear and use academic language in real contexts, not just drills. This can apply across content areas, especially in science, where my students are often exposed to big concepts and vocabulary. Overall, the videos reminded me how powerful it is when we slow down, plan intentionally, and build language into everything we teach—not as an add-on, but as a core part of instruction.
