Mod 1 Video Discussion

I really liked the way the video showed how much modeling and visual support can help English learners. The teacher didn’t just tell students what to do—she showed them, used gestures, repeated things clearly, and created a very welcoming environment. That kind of support makes a huge difference, especially for students who might not fully understand the language yet.

In my own classroom, I already try to use visuals and repetition, but this video reminded me how important it is to slow down and really make sure students are understanding—not just nodding along.I also liked how the teacher encouraged interaction and student talk. Moving forward, I want to be more intentional about giving my students time to process and speak, even if it means waiting longer or adjusting my pacing.

This kind of approach helps all learners, not just ELLs, so it's definitely something I want to continue building into my teaching.
