Mod 1 Discussion: Classroom Implications of Linguistic Theory
Mod 1
Constantly correcting students while they are trying to practice and learn a second language could cause the student to develop increasing anxieties and lower their confidence. With anxieties and lower confidence, they could be less likely to continue to practice due to them being 'afraid' of being wrong.
Instead of correcting the student, allowing the student to sit with a group of peers who speak the language fluently can help the student self correct and monitor their own growth. This can cause the student to gain confidence and learn the language in a natural way.
