Module 6 Discussion: Language and Learning
Module 6 Discussion
One strategy for learning vocabulary that I believe works well with ELLs when they are learning a new word, is acting out the vocabulary words. This also works well for all students, so it doesn't set different students apart. This strategy gets students up and moving, and it might be easier for them to remember the "act" that went with the word. Also, pairing the words with a visual and a context in which the word would be used an be helpful. I also like to have students draw a picture of the word to help them remember and connect the meaning with the word.
