Correcting Language

In the classroom a lot of challenges are faced and for a second language learner the hardest task in the classroom is understanding how to communicate in a non native language. It is important to refrain from constantly correcting these students so they can build confidence in being able to speak. It also encourages them to express themselves in the best way they know how.

However, there are some alternative ways to bring out student awareness in a language. One way would be to constantly model the actions as you’re speaking to a student for them to visually interpret what you’re saying. Another way to bring self awareness is to let the student practice in small group settings communicating with other language learners to promote confidence.
