I would do an inservice day on a half day for the kids. I would let the teachers look at the upcoming lessons and focus on the vocabulary and sight words we could use for our students. Focus on the fluency as well. Giving the teachers a why is always good. As a teacher I always want to know why and how this is going to help my students and myself if I do the training correctly. How does it benefit the students. I would focus on the sight words as we can see that is the most important task to tackle based on students state assessments. I would use visuals as a major component of the training. Giving the students a visual of the sight word so they can relate it to something. I would work on showing how to use word walls correctly and how to use technology for strategies as well. Demonstrate what it would look like with having the students be part of the building of the word wall.
