In kindergarten, morphology is taught in a variety of ways. It is often taught across multiple content areas in reference to specific context sentences to facilitate comprehension of the material. Word inflection and derivation is taught to show how  adding /s/ can impact the word’s tense or number (singular/plural); also changing the word’s meaning. We also teach how to divide syllables and  compound words. Morphology is taught at the kindergarten level by hearing words in repetition along with body gestures (whole body learning) for combining and segmenting words to smaller units. This includes: blending cvc words, segmenting words, and clapping/tapping out syllables
