I would recommend all content areas, however, math is one of the areas the ELL students struggle the most because they have to use two languages: social and numeric. They often feel fear and are unsure if they can’t understand well the instructions and steps to follow to solve a problem. The use of cognates is a great alternative to support their understanding.
