Introduce vocabulary words from the text at the beginning of each read aloud/lesson. Refer to those words whenever they come up when reading or during discussions. Redefine what the words mean each time they are brought up, and in different ways. Doing this will aid in comprehension.

Use technology to allow for ELLs to listen to the text in their native language. By doing this, the student can read the words in English, but hear them in their native language. They will know what the story was about and can participate in discussions which all will help build comprehension skills.
