I particularly liked how the teacher instructed the pairs to prepare for the student who talked the least during discussion to be ready to present their ideas to the class. This ensures that both students are gaining an understanding of the topic at hand. Rather one student dominate a discussion, thereafter re-explain their ideas to the class. This gives an opportunity for both students to develop their skills. I also really appreciated the 65 minute student-ran discussion. I teach primary school, so 65 minutes would be challenge, but I do work really hard at the beginning of the year to instill that in our class discussion. I  strongly encourage students to “piggy back” off one another using evidence to back up their thought or argument. Many great ways to improve listening and speaking skills.
