If it were May and my students were not making the progress that they need to be making, I would reconsider my lesson planning first. Am I structuring group time  in a way that they feel held accountable to their work? Do we need to revisit and clarify student roles? Do my students need a checklist or a rubric that I have not provided? If these issues weren’t at the root of my problem, I would then consider shuffling groups, taking into account student personalities and needs.
