Mod 5 Discussion: Formal and Informal Assessments

I have successfully used the Reading Inventory in READ 180 to assess students in the past.  It was successful in that after a period of instruction I was able to see marked growth in my student's performance.  What I didn't like was the hands off electronic approach; therefore, this year I intend to implement my own paper Reading Inventory Assessment.  I feel that it is important to not only engage a student on their reading level, but also try to discover where they feel their interests, strengths, and weaknesses lie.
